Tobias is a German and Italian qualified attorney and co-heads the trademark, design and domain name practice in the TALIENS Munich office.
He represents clients in the fields of food & beverage, telecommunications, media & entertainment/sports, automotive, fashion and cosmetics in infringement and anti-counterfeiting proceedings before German courts. In addition, Tobias administers international trademark and design portfolios and advises his clients on IP related matters within transactions/due diligence proceedings. He also represents artists, creatives and publishing houses in copyright enforcement proceedings. Finally, Tobias also advises on unfair competition/advertisement, plant varieties and on general litigation/arbitration matters.
A particular focus of Tobias’ work lies on complex trademark and design proceedings before the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxemburg.
He is a domain name panelist at World Intellectual Property Organization (Geneva), the Czech Arbitration Court (Prague), the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (Hong Kong) and MFSD (Milan) and issued more than 200 decisions.
Tobias regularly publishes on topics of IP and international commerce. He is a lecturer for IP at the University of applied sciences in Treves since 2007 and regularly holds seminars at different international universities and institutions.
Prior to joining TALIENS in 2018, Tobias headed the IP practice of a Munich based boutique firm (2009-2018) and worked as an associate in the trademark litigation group of a leading international firm (2004-2009). He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the University in Mainz (Germany) and received a French university degree (Maîtrise en droit) from Paris XII University.
Tobias is yearly ranked as one of the world’s leading trademark professionals (WTR 1000) and selected to ‘WIPR Leaders’ handbook”, Legal 500 and Managing Intellectual Property’s annual “IP Stars”-guide.
He speaks German, English, Italian, French and Spanish.
