TALIENS Associate Cornelius Sauerborn (Munich) has recently co-authored several publications with Prof. Kühling from the University of Regensburg. Two of the publications (Zeitschrift für Datenschutz (ZD) 2022, 531 and ZD 2022, 596) examine the regulations in the German Telecommunications Telemedia Act (TTDSG) on consent management systems (so-called PIMS), which are intended to stem the tide of cookie banners which arises because of the consent requirement when information is stored on user’s end devices. In another publication (Zeitschrift für Digitalisierung und Recht (ZfDR) 2022, 339) the authors examine the current practice of telemedia providers in the use of multi-layered and coloured cookie banners and alternative payment models for their legal conformity with German and European data protection provisions.
